Dear Parishioners,

As I said several weeks ago, I have been meeting and speaking with Dadona from the Diocesan Building Office, Mick Doyle (architect) and prospective contractors regarding the renovation of the convent in order to create a new rectory/parish office for the parish. As a pastor I am obliged to consult with an architect, and the Diocesan Building Office (DOB) in order to have a qualified contractor available to do the job. Appropriate oversight will also be provided by the DOB until the completion of the job. Bids on the job are now being submitted by three approved contractors and a choice of contractor will be made soon. It is my hope that the project will begin before the end of June and be completed before the end of the year. By now you can see that there are many procedures already set in place by the Diocese. I am obliged to follow these procedures and there can be no exceptions. I am sure you can now understand more clearly the obligations and responsibilities I have in order to have this renovation completed properly. I have placed the drawings of the proposed work in the 27th Street vestibule. Please take some time to see the proposed scope of the work. We might not elect to do all of the proposed renovation work because some of the suggested work might be too expensive. The decision will be made very soon and I will keep you informed as information is available.
